Worthy Teaching

Worthy teaching to me could be defined as both teaching that is worthy to students as well as teaching that is worthy to teachers. While teaching is of extreme worth to teachers, learning is also of significant worth to students. For teachers, teaching plays a large role in their lives. Also, the reason why teachers teach is because they think teaching is a way of passing on wisdom and knowledge to the next generation.

For students, learning and being taught is a crucial part of their lives. Being able to learn and discover the world for themselves is ultimately what schooling and living should be about. Likewise, teachers themselves will always be students for a lifetime. Even though teachers might not necessarily have master teachers to guide them through their life journeys, life itself definitely has its ways of giving its lessons.

During class last week, groups were formed to discuss this idea of "worthy teaching". My group came up with really interesting ideas such as encouragement, understanding, and most of all, patience. I feel that having discussed the idea of "worthy teaching" in groups is definitely a teacher and student experience because worthy teaching is about teaching and being taught. It is fair to say that in a group discussion, when one presents, the one presenting acts as an informal teacher during the course of one's presentation while others act as students. The same situation occurs as we move on to the next person to present their ideas.

The idea of worthy teaching should always remain in a teacher's mind because being a master teacher and having the ability to pass on the different ideas of "worthy teaching" should be a goal that all teachers strive for.
