Define Misbehavior

By using dictionary.com,
misbehavior is defined as "improper, inappropriate, or bad behavior."
Just by that definition, this definition is subjective.  I say this because just like the things that we had on the "what makes you uncomfortable" board differs from person to person, misbehavior is in the same category.

As in class we had the discussion about sitting on top of tables or not, that is purely subjective and really depends on the individual.
I agree with clover, as that the list of what constitutes as misbehavior is list of what a not personal teacher would say is misbehavior.

Children are children.  They will not conform 100% to what teachers want them to do.
They have so many growing distractors.  With this day and age, the rise of multi-tasking and technology, the list Levin and Nolan lists is simply dis-contextualized for misbehavior.

Being different and difficult is not misbehavior.  Teachers have to address what is troubling with the child. Simply giving them detention or being biased against them will not be beneficial for both teacher and pupil.

As education is propaganda, it is not surprising that students will misbehave.
I believe that there should not be a concept of misbehaving in the classroom if the teacher does not bother to personalize themselves with the students and find the root of the problem. Yes this is a lot of work, so if a teacher cannot find the time to understand the student the teacher just have to work around the 'misbehavior'.

What might seem disruptive in a classroom can be totally normal in a home.  To figure out a child and their needs is much more important than labeling a child if they are misbehaving or not.
