I read other classmates comments about what a worthy teacher is, and all of the qualities they talked about are really interesting for me. At the same time, I feel they are all important for being a worthy teacher. I am happy to hear other people's thoughts since they will be a practical future reference if I become a teacher. In my mind, A worthy teacher is a person who weights a student's identity. The identity includes even a student's name, for instance. I have learned a psychology class that the word which people feel most comfortable in the world with is his/her own name. I really agree with this idea and think it relates to the idea that remembering student's name carefully and calling their name in a friendly way is an important component for being a worthy teacher. Furthermore, a worthy teacher will learn from students, not only teach them. I think teachers have many things that they are able to learn from their students. It is a great skill to be able to acquire for a person whose job is a teacher because teacher can rethink his/her teaching styles to fit the students' needs and improve his/her own skills while teaching at the same time. From my experiences, I realized that teachers also make errors and mistakes. It is because a teacher is a person prior to a teacher. when a teacher makes mistakes in front of students, and students notice the mistake, a teacher simply has to apologize about it. I believe a person who can sincerely apologize for his/her own mistakes to students can be a worthy teacher.
The other component of a worthy teacher I found is to be excited teaching a subject. My high school teacher always looks like she enjoyed teaching in her class. I could feel so, and maybe my classmates also felt the same. We could learn the subject while enjoying it and feeling comfortable in her class. I think the atmosphere of a classroom is affected by the teacher. If students feel comfortable in the atmosphere, they can concentrate more and enjoy the subject too. Therefore, it is important for a teacher to enjoy his/her own class and love teaching.
