Collaboration - in general - should be a major part of teachers' lives. Teachers should take all of the opportunities they have to work with other teachers in order to prepare the most effective lessons or share ideas. Although, I do believe that collaboration does become a bit more challenging when we also examine personality types. Without taking personality types into consideration, I think that we risk the chance of misjudging people. As an introvert, I tend to be very cautious, shy, and I like to think things through before I share my opinions or ideas. With that said, at times I think that some people may think that I am uninterested in the topic of conversation, but that is not the case.
Mamchur discusses the fact that IN (Intoverted, Intuitive) individuals "usually move to a position of influence in the school system, creating curriculum for a largely ES population" (p. 59). She also pointed out that INs like learning from books and lectures, whereas the ES type prefer practical, hands-on activities. As an IN, these facts have made me recognize how important collaboration will be for me. In order to provide my students with lessons that support the ratio of 3 extroverts to 1 introvert, I will need to collaborate with extroverts in order to gain a better understanding of how I can meet the needs and individual differences of my students.
